About Me

Caleb J. Mathis

Hello! My name is Caleb Mathis, and I reside in a charming small town in rural central Illinois. I am a dedicated Visual Arts Teacher for grades six through twelve at Shelbyville School District.

With a decade of experience in teaching visual arts, I am deeply passionate about my work. I relish the opportunity to engage with students each day, fostering their creativity and guiding them to explore and refine their artistic skills. Witnessing their growth and their ability to apply their talents in innovative ways is incredibly rewarding. I firmly believe that teaching is not just about imparting knowledge, but about inspiring students to realize their potential through hard work and dedication. Additionally, I am committed to helping students communicate visually and emotionally through the arts, which I see as essential for their development as empathetic and compassionate individuals. I am convinced that by nurturing these qualities, we can make a meaningful difference in the world.

Outside of the classroom, I indulge in my passions for geek culture, woodworking, and spending quality time with my sons. I enjoy playing tabletop games with friends and crafting unique pieces of furniture in my woodshop. My wife and I cherish creating a warm and welcoming home environment for our family. Together with our two energetic and affectionate sons, we engage in imaginative play and occasionally collaborate on art projects, which adds a joyful dimension to our lives.
